I got asked this question by someone that had been referred to me last week. We were discussing whether we would be a good fit if we were to work together.
Then came the mic. drop question – boom!
It’s not a sad-ending story though it turns out that coaching is part of their solution, phew…
But here’s why coaching is only part of the solution.
Every goal that you have is imaginary but what makes them real is how much you want them. And therein lies the crux.
For many people, your goals will fail because you don’t commit and move toward them.
Did you know that only 3% of goals are ever written down?
You are encouraged to think big and then get overwhelmed by the challenge of the goal that you have set!
Need to talk about Overwhelm? Then get in touch.
Your goal must be a place that you start from not where you get to.
If it wasn’t how do you know which way to travel?
Coaching can only ever be part of the solution because it relies on you wanting to make the goal real, work towards it, and bring about the change that you are looking for.
You must bring all of you to it if you want it to happen.
I’m a huge fan of James Clear and his brilliant book Atomic Habits, if you have never read it, I’d encourage you to get a copy in whatever format you read/ listen to. In it, he explains how if you can get 1% better each day, after 1 year you end up with results that are nearly 37 times better.
Imagine that!
Imagine if you got 1% closer to your goal every day because, instead of struggling to get there on your own, you worked with someone who helped you get there, kept you accountable, kept things in perspective, and helped you to achieve.
You should take advantage of the short time that you have, take risks, reject them, and continue to grow. Be willing to experience.
This might sound tough, but you are where you are because that’s where you put yourself.
The great scholar C.S. Lewis wrote, “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
Don’t downgrade your vision to match your current reality, instead upgrade your belief in yourself to match your vision.
